i'm a good person, mostly
<< 2005-05-24 - 8:30 p.m. >>

Why is it that if you're 23, don't have any kids, and aren't married that people tell you that you'd "better get started?"

The janitor here at the hospital told me that that's what I need to do with my life. "What are you waiting for?!" he said.

Please, I'm having enough trouble raising myself and a closet full of shoes that the biggest commitment I'm going to take on is a bunny.

While I'm on this whole kid thing, I'm not having any. Nope, not a one. Tie my tubes right now and burn them off. If I want one later, I'll adopt. In no way do I see the need to bring a child into this world when there are so many unloved ones out there.

More power to ya if you want to squeeze fruit from your loins. No, thanks.

This was all the start of the 'good deeds' me. Well, I guess the start was about a year ago when I started paying for the person behind me at the toll bridge. It's just 35 cents extra. Plus, there was this billboard on the WV side when you got off that had a picture of some girl killed in 9/11 that talked about doing a good deed for her. When I saw it I'd get teary eyed, and when I saw it and hadn't done my "good deed" of paying for the person behind me I'd all but bawl my eyes out at it.

Ugh, crying over billboards: Check-minus to being a girl.

Anyhow, I e-mailed Big Brothers/Big Sisters about becoming a big sis in the area. I could totally run around all day with an 11 year old. It'd rock. We'd go to the mall and have dippin' dots, head to Marietta and get donuts, she could try on my shoes. . . what fun! I always wanted to be a big sis to someone other that my brother. He'd be so ungrateful when I'd try to give him a makeover.

I've also decided I'm going to sponsor a child. I'm going to be careful about this though. I don't want to get ripped off. With BB/BS you actually see the kid and stuff, but I wouldn't see this kid eating the rice I bought. I want to KNOW that it's rice I've purchased and not a portion of a meal for Sally Struthers (see SouthPark).

Mom and I were talking and we're always like, "If I had the money I'd help blah, blah, blah." Well, while I don't have a ton o' money or much at all, why can't I use some to do SOMEthing? Why can't I just devote time to something? So, when I'm not working 60 hours a week (after we hire someone) that's what I'm going to do. Devote time. And labor. I really think it'd be neat to do Habitat for Humanity. Hmm. . . I'll have to weed down my options, or else when would I buy shoes?
